About us
At All Saints, Thornton Hough, we honour Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and we are seeking to know God better and make Him known.
Who are we?
We are people of all ages and all walks of life, coming from diverse locations, yet with a common faith in Jesus. Our regular members come from the villages of Thornton Hough, Raby, Brimstage, and Raby Mere, which are in the parish, as well as surrounding areas including Heswall and Neston, Bromborough and Bebington, and further afield. We like to give a warm welcome to newcomers, and enjoy meeting people over refreshments after the services. We are used to seeing new faces, so if you join us for the first time you shouldn’t feel too conspicuous! We have made a space in the midst where people in wheelchairs or in buggies can have space to sit without being stuck at the back.
What is our Sunday worship like?
We hope that you will find here a reverent service of worship in which God’s presence is near, his Word is honoured, and his grace is at work. We have a choir and organist at two services each Sunday, who bring an added vibrancy to our worship, with a good range of traditional and modern songs being sung.
Are children included?
Definitely! Our mid-morning Sunday service is especially geared up for children and during school terms we run ‘Sunday school’ groups on site. We want our services to be engaging for adults of all ages whilst at the same time welcoming children and allowing them to be children so they’re not expected to sit still all the while. We provide quiet play toys and books and we have people on hand to help and support.
Is anything happening during the week?
Yes- see the links to the ‘parish organisations’ and ‘parish diary’. We have groups covering all ages including Bible studies, prayer and fellowship, parents and toddlers, lunches and coffee mornings, games, and occasional social events as well. We are a very active church and there are plenty of opportunities for people to use the gifts God has given them in serving one another. We enjoy a good relationship with our Christian brothers and sisters at St George’s URC church just over the road and share services and events on a regular basis. We have many congregation members who are involved in community life and we try to make a very positive contribution to life in Thornton Hough and surrounding areas.
